From road construction to building improvements, here's the status of 7 Bryan Co. projects

Hyundai Motor Group Metaplant America might be center stage in Bryan County but there are plenty of projects across the county currently in the works.

Some structures, like the county courthouse and Richmond Hill library, will be getting a facelift. There are also several road construction updates underway.

Below are the in-progress Bryan County projects not related to Hyundai.

Bryan County Courthouse

Projected completion date: Late 2024

The county courthouse is undergoing repairs after a tornado ravaged the building in April 2022. Interior work is almost complete while exterior work is ongoing.

Roundabouts near new Richmond Hill High School

Projected Completion Date: Mid 2024

Construction of two turbo roundabouts is underway on the south end of the county near the new Richmond Hill High School. One will be built at the athletics field entrance on Belfast Keller Road and another on Cranston Bluff Road near the school’s main entrance. In addition, 1.59 miles of Belfast Keller Road will be widened to four lanes.

Richmond Hill Library

Projected completion date: April 2024

The Richmond Hill library underwent major renovations, as an additional 2,000 square feet has been added to include staff offices, a meeting area and more.

Henderson Park

Projected Completion Date: December 2024

Phase two of the Henderson Park project will see two baseball fields, additional parking, a concession stand and restroom.

Hendrix Park

Projected completion date: TBD

Hendrix Park was ravaged by a tornado that hit Ellabell nearly two years ago. Outdoor ball fields and courts are ready for competition. A two-story concession stand is expected to begin in the second quarter of 2024. The batting cage is expected to be complete this month.

Wilma Edwards Road

Projected completion date: Third quarter of 2025

A roundabout will be installed at the intersection of U.S. 280 and Wilma Edwards Road. Plans are awaiting approval from the Georgia Department of Transportation. Although the estimated completion date is the third quarter of 2025, the timeline will depend on GDOT’s approval.

Oak Level Road

Projected completion date: First quarter of 2025

A roundabout is expected to be constructed at the intersection of Highway 144 and Oak Level Road in the first quarter of 2025. The completion date depends on approval from GDOT.
