‘Riverside Rocks’ to support children with hearing disabilities

RIVERSIDE, Ill. — If you didn’t know that Riverside Rocks, you’re about to.

This Saturday afternoon, over the span of several hours, 18 bands will play at a variety of places — From garages and porches and more — Throughout the beautiful western suburb at the yearly music event.

Now in its fourth iteration, the Riverside Rocks Musical Event aims to provide continued financial support to St. Jude Children’s Research hospital, while partnering with local Riverside charities to create awareness and develop resources for families facing childhood illnesses and disease.

Since 2020, the organization behind Riverside Rocks has raised more than $160,000 for research at St. Jude’s and other ventures through local-area charities.

This weekend, the event will help benefit Child’s Voice, a charity in Chicagoland dedicated to helping young people and their families navigate various kinds of hearing loss across their childhoods.

“So, We have an early intervention program where we provide services in the home to families,” said Wendy Deters, executive director of Child’s Voice. “So, we provide speech and rehab therapy.”

Since 1996 when it was formed, Child’s Voice has graduated 350 students through its program at no cost to the young people they help, all the while offering a variety of services up until they are 21 years old.
