Rita’s Italian Ice opening new Franklin County location

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. (WHTM) — A new Rita’s Italian Ice will soon be opening the doors to a new location in Franklin County.

abc27 news reported back on September 6, 2023, when a new Rita’s Italian Ice location was first confirmed to be opening soon on Wayne Avenue in Chambersburg.

According to a spokesperson with Rita’s Italian Ice, the new 1,500-square-foot location on 731 Wayne Avenue in Chambersburg is slated to open its doors at some point in May 2024.

The franchise owners for the new location are Keila and Mark Trace, who also own and operate a Frederick, Maryland Rita’s Italian Ice, which opened in June 2022. According to Keila, about 20 years ago she worked at Rita’s location in Chambersburg, which closed its doors eight years ago.

When the new Rita’s Italian Ice opens its doors in Chambersburg, its hours of operation in the summer will be:

  • 11 a.m. – 10 p.m. // Mondays through Sundays

Once the new location opens, the owners expect to create 20 part-time positions and five full-time positions.
