Ridgecrest killer’s child sex abuse trial postponed

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — The trial for convicted murderer Daniel Gunnarsson, who’s facing child sex abuse charges, has been postponed to July.

Gunnarsson, 23, had been scheduled for trial this month but on Wednesday attorneys agreed to a new trial date of July 29.

Late last year, prosecutors filed multiple felony counts against Gunnarsson after the alleged victim told deputies he forced her to engage in sex acts on numerous occasions from 2016 to 2021.

In October, Gunnarrson was sentenced to 25 years to life for the May 18, 2021, murder of 21-year-old Kathryn Pham. He dated Pham about a month before killing her in a garage at his stepfather’s home on Skylark Avenue.
