Richland shares update on network security disruption

DECATUR, Ill. (WCIA) — Richland Community College’s website has been down for more than 10 days, but the college’s IT team said they are working as fast as they can to get back to normal operations.

Network servers, phones, some department emails, and the college’s main website (www.richland.edu) are still inoperable as of Feb. 29. The college confirmed they have been aware of network security issues since Feb. 17 and said their IT Department are working with external cybersecurity professionals to resolve the security issues.

Online classes and emails for students and faculty are still up and running.

Anyone needing billing or tax forms should email Richland’s business office at businessoffice@richland.edu.

For inquiries on topics like registration, classes, scholarships, transcripts, the college asks to talk to staff in-person at the Student Success Center in the north wing of the main building.

“All of Richland’s faculty and staff are working diligently to support students – ensuring we can continue to provide quality education and support services,” a statement from the college reads.
