Retired NYPD lieutenant charged with groping young woman: police sources

A retired NYPD lieutenant who was once in an off-duty shooting has been arrested for groping a young woman at a Queens subway station, the Daily News has learned.

Retired Lt. Jose Jacome was taken into custody around 5:30 p.m. Wednesday after plainclothes public safety officers spotted him grabbing a 25-year-old woman’s rear-end at the 74th St.-Broadway station in Jackson Heights.

The 26-year NYPD veteran allegedly followed the woman onto the train and continued to press his fingers against her behind. He also “breathed heavily” on her neck, the woman told police after his arrest, according to officials.

Cops charged him with forcible touching, sex abuse and harassment.

Jacome, 60, told police when they apprehended him that he was a retired NYPD officer. Cops also recovered a licensed .380 pistol from his person.

He retired in 2016 after serving in the 44th Precinct in the Bronx and the 110th Precinct in Queens, according to the website 50-a.org.

In 2007, while off duty, he thwarted a mugging in Jackson Heights, cops said. One of the would-be robbers, a 17-year-old boy, tried to take Jacome’s gun during the clash and was shot in the chest as they fought over the pistol.

Jacome was picking up his girlfriend at a restaurant in Jackson Heights when he saw the robbery in progress, flashed his badge and ordered the muggers to stop, cops said.

It was not clear who pulled the trigger, the NYPD said at the time.

His arraignment in Queens Criminal Court for the public lewdness arrest was pending Thursday, officials said.
