Retired Adams County K-9 who helped identify deputy’s killer dies

DENVER (KDVR) — Condolences flooded onto social media after the Adams County Sheriff’s Office announced Tuesday that retired K-9 Kevlar had passed away.

“Goodbye good boy,” the post said.

The sheriff’s office said it once recognized Kevlar as an employee of the month after he played a crucial role in identifying the man convicted of killing Deputy Heath Gumm in 2018.

Countless acknowledgments of Kevlar’s service and well wishes to his handler and family were posted on the announcement shortly after it was posted.

“He was a good boy and he was so brave,” one person said on social media. “Thank you for your service Kevlar, K9 hero!”

“Rest in peace, Kevlar. My condolences to everyone who loved and knew him,” another person said.
