Residents in Livingston Parish town asked to conserve water after system failure
KILLIAN, La. (BRPROUD) — The Livingston Parish Government is asking Killian residents to conserve water after a water system failure in the town.
A declaration of emergency was issued in Killian on Tuesday, April 23. Livingston Parish officials said work began to determine the cause of the water well equipment failure on Wednesday, May 1. On Wednesday, they posted on social media that “the water service has been restored and is now running off the shuttle tanker.”
“We have successfully placed 97,500 gallons of water in the tank thus far. Based on our estimates, the town’s current water consumption is around 5,700 gallons per hour, which aligns closely with our projected usage.
“We kindly ask all citizens to continue their efforts to conserve water during this time. Every drop saved makes a difference in ensuring a sustainable water supply for our community. Your cooperation in water conservation is greatly appreciated.
“Thank you for your ongoing support and commitment to water conservation efforts.”
