Residents evacuate after Edmond nursing home struck by lightning

EDMOND, Okla. (KFOR) – Two people were injured while evacuating after a nursing home was struck by lightning Thursday morning.

According to the Edmond Fire Department, firefighters responded to a nursing home near Danforth Rd. and Broadway around 3:30 a.m.

Officials say two people were hurt after falling while trying to evacuate the building. They were both taken to a nearby hospital.

Some residents had to be moved to other buildings and there is significant water damage to the nursing home.

No other injuries have been reported.
