Residents displaced after Churchland Road NW fire

ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR) — Roanoke Fire-EMS reports tens of thousands in damages and multiple people displaced after a residential fire that occurred in northwest Roanoke on Friday, May 10.

According to fire officials, around 11:15 a.m., crews responded to the 600 block of Churchland Road NW and found an active fire in the home’s basement. Firefighters were able to quickly gain control and put out the flames.

After an investigation, it was determined that the fire’s cause was electrical, and it was deemed accidental.

The estimated damage to the structure and its contents is $75,000.

There were no injuries reported from the scene, however, the occupants of the home were displaced. They are currently receiving help from the Red Cross.
