Report: Vince McMahon Cooperating With Authorities, Has Not Had Settlement Talks In Janel Grant Lawsuit

Vince McMahon is said to be cooperating with investigators, and sources say he does not expect officials to bring charges against him.

In January, Janel Grant filed a lawsuit against Vince McMahon, John Laurinaitis, and WWE, in which McMahon and Laurinaitis were accused of sexual assault and sex trafficking. McMahon denied the allegations, but he resigned from WWE and TKO, and he is under federal investigation.

Per Chloe Melas and Alex Sherman of CNBC, NBC News and CNBC spoke with all people who are familiar with McMahon and WWE. The report cites an emailed statement from Jessica Rosenberg, an attorney for McMahon, who reiterated past claims that the claims made in Grant’s lawsuit were false.

“The lawsuit’s claims are false, defamatory and entirely without merit,” Rosenberg wrote. “We intend to vigorously defend Mr. McMahon and are confident that he will be vindicated.”

As previously reported by NBC News, federal investigators took a phone from McMahon, as the investigation regarding whether the former WWE chairman broke federal law continues. WWE stated that investigators executed a search warrant in July 2023.

Update On Lawsuit Against Vince McMahon

Melas and Alex Sherman write that Vince McMahon is cooperating with authorities, per a source. It was noted that he does not believe officials will bring charges against him. A source indicated that McMahon believes that Grant’s civil case will be settled out of court.

Additionally, the report notes that a spokesperson for the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of New York declined to comment. Meanwhile, a spokesperson for Grant’s attorneys said that there have been “absolutely no settlement talks with McMahon.”

Furthermore, two other sources said that Vince McMahon has been “quite guarded.” He is often on the phone with lawyers to discuss the case.
