Remodeling of Bentonville historic building

BENTONVILLE, Ark. (KNWA/KFTA) — The Peel Compton Foundation announced its plans to renovate the Compton Gardens and Arboretum family home in the Summer of 2024.

The foundation said the estimated yearlong project will help better serve the Northwest Arkansas community. The project will preserve the historic exterior of the mid-century modern house that was once home to renowned doctor, photographer, and conservationist Neil Compton, according to a news release.

“The effort will bring the outside in,” said Debra Layton, executive director of the Peel Compton Foundation, “opening up garden views on the northside of the house and creating a downstairs lounge, ready rooms and heated outside entertaining spaces to better serve the public.”

In a news release, the renovation will also better tell the story and life of Dr. Neil Compton.
