Registration for ASU Summer Nursing Discovery Camp open

SAN ANGELO, Texas (Concho Valley Homepage) —Local and area high school students interested in discovering the nursing field are invited to participate in the Angelo State University Summer Nursing Discovery Camp 9.0 from June 9 through June 14.

The university’s Department of Nursing will host the camp for students entering 9th grade in August.

During the camp, instructors and supervisors made up of ASU nursing faculty, staff and students will lead and interact with students. Students who attend will be housed in ASU’s award-winning Plaza Verde residence hall and meals will be provided and served in The Caf, according to ASU.

ASU Handball Club brings home three national titles

Campers will get the chance to:

  • Learn from ASU nursing faculty and students.

  • Interact with practicing RNs and other healthcare professionals.

  • Explore nursing and patient-care skills.

  • Interact with state-of-the-art human patient simulators.

  • Participate in virtual anatomy lab dissections.

  • Complete CPR and First Aid training.

Activities during the Summer Nursing Discovery Camp will include:

  • Rock-wall climbing and swimming

  • Game and movie nights

  • Recreation and social time

  • Prep for a successful 9th-grade year

ASU shared that the cost for the camp is $425 per student. This cost “includes tuition and fees, housing meals and swag.” Registration is required and will end on May 1. For more information about this camp or to register, visit the ASU website.
