An update on refugees that landed in Chippewa Valley

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (WLAX/WEUX) – We are learning more about the resettlement process today (4/30/24) as refugees are settling in here in the Chippewa Valley. Ka Vang, Site Manager for World Relief (the non-profit organization overseeing the efforts to help the refugees) says they are now talking with elected officials quarterly in an effort to be more transparent. She says that their first meeting was held recently and was well received.

World Relief says it was a great opportunity to answer questions about what their role with the refugees is. Vang explained, “We provide their first 90-day course services, so the first month is pretty much a weekly contact with the refugees, making sure that everything’s going well and we’re connecting them to all the different support services in the Community.”

World Relief says the 24 refugees that have already made it to the Chippewa Valley are adjusting well.
