Earlier this month, a GoFundMe was created by family and friends to get him to a treatment center in Mexico. In the GoFundMe it stated that Rios was forced to miss his last two years of school to confront his cancer.

In an update posted on April 25 on Rios’ condition, his mother detailed the treatment he is receiving. She says that her son is strong-willed and determined to kick cancer out of his body, adding that he is committed and willing to sacrifice whatever it is to be healthy.

“He’s making hard decisions that no young man should ever need to make. His endurance amazes me every day! Through it all he gives glory to God for being with him every step of the journey,” his mother wrote.
