‘We received back…less than 200’ Election and Registration office speaks on absentee ballot delays

COLUMBUS, Ga. (WRBL) — The Muscogee County Elections and Registration office says the delays in the post office are impacting the return of absentee ballots for the May primary.

Nancy Boren, The Muscogee County Director of Elections and Registration told WRBL, ” we’ve mailed out 1392 and we received back in the office less than 200. ”

Voters have not received ballots that were mailed out at the end of April.

Boren says, “Voters who are disabled or elderly, they can’t get to a poll to vote early or to their assigned poll on Election Day, and their only option is absentee by mail moving. If that is no longer an option, then how are those people going to vote.”

For the primary election on May 21st, Boren suggest even if you have requested an absentee ballot to vote early. As well as, if you have received a ballot to drop it off to the collections Dropbox or the election office.

Boren says that the elections and registration office wants voters to recognize that there might be delays.
