‘Really upsetting;’ Fairborn mother’s car stolen, belongings scattered on roadways on Mother’s Day

A Fairborn mother had an “upsetting” start to her Mother’s Day when she realized someone had stolen her car and scattered her belongings across the road overnight.

As reported on News Center 7 at 11:00, Victoria Spina said this has been hard for her family.

“My youngest is four and she keeps crying. She’s been carrying around that seatbelt because it was in her car seat and it’s gone. I miss my car,” Spina said.

Around 1:30 a.m., Spina’s security cameras captured three people looking around her car. Moments later, she heard something strange and looked outside.

“I was lying in bed, and I heard my car start. So I got up because my windows were right above my head and I looked out the curtain as my car was backing down the driveway,” Spina said. “Then in the next video, it was my car speeding off and they left in my car.”

She called Fairborn police and filed a report immediately, but right after doing so, she received an unexpected call back.

“They found a lot of stuff laying here in the road, and asked if I could come and identify and like confirm that it was my stuff,” Spina said.

Spina said she was devastated by what she found in the street.

“My son’s baseball jersey was lying in the road with his baseball bat and it’s just really upsetting because that stuff means a lot to him,” Spina said.

“His whole ball bag is missing. So they threw out the jersey but they still took a lot of his stuff,” Spina’s mother Kory Little said.

Spina found her purse, but the wallet was missing.

She said it’s been difficult trying to explain the situation to her young children.

“My son’s pretty upset about all of his baseball stuff and my daughter’s just kind of trying to be there for me because it’s Mother’s Day. She’s like making me all these pictures and she’s like ‘Happy Mother’s Day. Do you want another present?’” Spina said.

Fairborn police told News Center 7 they are still searching for the 2014 Silver Dodge Durango.

“Just if anybody sees the car just, you know, call because she’s kind of stuck until the car is recovered or found wrecked, whatever it may be,” Little said.
