Rayne police arrest two Romanian nationals for fraud related investigation
RAYNE, La. (KLFY) — The Rayne Police Department have arrested two Romanian nationals as a part of a state wide fraud investigation.
On Saturday around 4:15 p.m., Rayne police said they conducted a traffic stop on a 2022 Toyota 4Runner on I-10 West. The traffic stop was in regards to a BOLO alert for a vehicle related to an ongoing investigation into credit card skimming activities at various checkout locations throughout the state.
During the stop, officers said they discovered around 30 payments cards with reloaded stolen credit card numbers hidden in a compartment in the vehicle’s dash. Further investigation revealed that Italian and Danish identifications presented by the men were fake. The individuals, who initially identified themselves as Johan Skov and Martin Ramunssen, are suspected to be Romanian nationals currently in the U. S. illegally. They were both arrested and are being held without bond.
