Raleigh County Commission dissolves town of Rhodell

BECKLEY, WV (WVNS) — During the regular Raleigh County Commission meeting in Beckley on Tuesday, May 21, 2024, commissioners approved the dissolution of the town of Rhodell.

For several years, commissioners and Raleigh County Commission attorney Bill Roop had followed a lengthy process to dissolve the town of just over 100 people.

Roop said on Tuesday that a number of bills had to be paid before the dissolution could be granted.

The town did not have a business and did not owe B&O taxes.

“It’s first time we’ve taken this type of action. It’s something we hope in the long run will benefit the residents of Rhodell,” said Roop.

Roop said Raleigh County Circuit Court Judge Robert Burnside certified the dissolution, and he said all of the town’s debts had been paid.
