Friday will see partly sunny skies with an 80 percent chance of rain Friday night. Drizzle or spotty rain showers are possible Friday, before the heavier weather moves in overnight into Saturday.

The greatest potential for thunderstorms will be Saturday afternoon, according to the NWS. Rainfall is expected to be light to moderate with the heaviest rain in the Santa Cruz Mountains and Santa Lucia Range.

The NWS advises allowing extra travel time and increasing vehicle following distance. Thunderstorms and heavier rain showers could produce small hail, the NWS said.

Skies will begin to dry early Sunday, according to KRON4 Meteorologist John Shrable. Temperatures, however, will remain cool, before slowly rising next week.
