Rain on Easter weekend in Sacramento? Snow in Tahoe? Here’s your Northern California forecast

Gloomy skies, rain, wind and snow are in the forecast for Northern California.

How long will the rain last in Sacramento?

Don’t let intermittent sunny skies fool you. More rain is in the forecast for Sacramento.

Thursday night’s forecast shows cloudy skies with temperatures as low as 46 degrees. Gusts will be around 7 mph.

On Friday, there is a 40% chance of showers mainly after 11 a.m. Along with gloomy skies, winds will sweep through the region at around 6 to 14 mph. Gusts could blow as fast as 23 mph.

In the evening, chances of rain will increase to 80%. Winds will range from 14 to 25 mph.

Temperatures will reach a high near 58 degrees and a low around 49.

Saturday’s forecast shows a 50% chance of rain and possible thunderstorms after 11 a.m. Skies will be mostly cloudy throughout the day, with temperatures as high as 60 degrees.

Winds will sweep at around 7 to 10 mph throughout the afternoon.

Evening temperatures could reach a low of about 46 degrees.

What’s in the forecast for Tahoe?

The weather forecast for South Lake Tahoe shows snowfall in the coming days.

Thursday night is expected to see cloudy skies with temperatures as low as 20 degrees. Winds could reach up to 10 mph.

On Friday, there is a 70% chance of snow mainly after 11 a.m. Along with variable winds sweeping at around 5 mph, temperatures will be as low as 23 degrees and as high as 36.

In the evening, chances of snow will increase up to 80%. Up to 4 inches of snow is possible.

There is an 80% chance of precipitation on Saturday.

Skies will be mostly cloudy throughout the day with some thunder in the evening. The temperature high will be near 37 degrees and the low around 23 degrees. Winds could reach up to 5 mph.

About 5 inches of snow is possible.

What about Easter Sunday?

On Sunday, the forecast shows mostly cloudy skies with a 50% chance of snow. The high will be near 39 degrees and the low will be around 20.

The forecast shows mostly clear, sunny skies next week. High temperatures will be around 50 degrees.

How much snow has fallen in Tahoe this season?

The UC Berkeley Central Sierra Snow Laboratory — located at Donner Pass — reported approximately 10 inches of snow in the past 48 hours.

“This storm has brought statewide snow water equivalent up to 104% of the April 1st average,” the laboratory said on X, formerly called Twitter.

Over the next several days, Sierra snow totals are expected to increase, the laboratory said.

An additional 3 to 6 inches are expected to fall throughout the Sierra on Thursday, the National Weather Service said on X.
