Rail cart derails in MBTA Blue Line work zone in Boston

A rail cart derailed in an MBTA Blue Line construction zone near Orient Heights Wednesday morning. A video shows workers surrounding the piece of equipment, trying to get it back on the tracks. Orient Heights The MBTA called the incident a “low-speed, controlled derailment.” The yellow rail cart was carrying railroad ties when it derailed at about 9 a.m. The area is under a scheduled diversion for track work to take place, so there was no impact on commuter service. Buses were already replacing trains between Maverick and Wonderland stations. No injuries were reported. The incident is under investigation.
