Radici in DC closing after more than 10 years

WASHINGTON (DC News Now) — A fixture in D.C.’s Capitol Hill neighborhood for more than decade said Wednesday that it would be closing.

Radici, the Italian restaurant and specialty food and wine market, shared the news on its Facebook page.

The post, which included a picture of a letter, said: “After over a decade of memories, we will be closing our doors at our current location on April 28th. Your support has meant the world to us. Grazie di cuore to our amazing community.

Among other things, the letter said that the business’ decision was not made lighlty, citing many challenges including “three years of disruptive construction across the street, a global pandemic, endless maintenance issues, and increasing crime.”

The letter went on to say: “Over the past six months, we have tirelessly explored every avenue to ensure the continuation of Radici at our current location. We considered various options to sustain our operations and engaged in lengthy negotiations with our landlords, but, despite our best efforts, difficulties with the extension of our lease and condition of the building proved impossible to overcome.”

Radici noted that it would be looking for a new home and looking forward to the day when “we can welcome you back to our table for some buon cibo and vino.”

The business said its final day at 7th and C streets would be April 28.
