Questions of safety prompts intersection conversion in St. Marys

ST MARYS (KSNT) – On Thursday, the St. Marys Police Department alerted residents of a project that will see a 2-way stop converted into a 4-way stop.

On April 1, drivers approaching North 2nd Street and Mount Cavalry Road must be prepared to come to a complete stop while work is being performed, according to the police department.

The intersection was identified as a problem after the St. Marys City Commission received multiple safety complaints due to increased pedestrian and vehicle traffic. In late 2023, a study funded by a KDOT grant recommended the intersection be upgraded to a 4-way stop.
