However, Councilmember, Lori Leece wants to hold off on things, citing the need for a city attorney and formal council training for new members to happen before moving forward. The majority of the council voted against that motion.

“This is not a small matter, and we need to know that we’re doing things right. We also don’t have a city attorney at this current time, so I don’t feel like I have legal representation to ask council of, that’s unbiased. I just feel like that’s very important, and I would have liked to have seen us put the brakes on this tonight and I’m very sad for our community,” said Councilmember Leece.

Leece says only two council members have attended new council training. Five new members were elected to the council back on April 2.
