Pulaski County deputies investigating deadly shooting in McAlmont community

PULASKI COUNTY, Ark. – Deputies said a woman is dead and a suspect is in custody following a Wednesday morning shooting in Pulaski County.

Officials with the Pulaski County Sheriff’s Office said deputies responded to a home in the 100 block of East 47th Street in the McAlmont community after getting reports of gunshots in the area.

Sherwood police asking for public’s help in identifying robbery suspect

On Wednesday evening, deputies identified the suspect arrested in the shooting as 60-year-old Russell Reed. Police said he is facing a charge of capital murder and a charge of first-degree criminal mischief.

Officials also identified the victim as 84-year-old Altha Reed. Authorities did not state the suspect’s specific connection to the victim.

The deputies said when they arrived at the residence near the intersection of Jamison and East 47th, they found Altha Reed suffering from a gunshot wound. Authorities said she later died from those injuries.

There is also no word at this time from investigators if there were any other injuries connected to this shooting.
