Public meeting to be held about Farmington water line replacement project

Apr. 13—FARMINGTON — The Town of Farmington has a proposed project underway for a complete water line replacement in the Little Laurel and Lincoln Heights area.

The existing lines in this section of the system were installed in the 1930s, and their condition is deteriorating due to age. This project will place new pipes in the ground to improve the quality of transmission lines, reduce water loss in the system, and decrease customer service interruptions.

The project has been funded through the West Virginia Water Development Authority's Economic Enhancement Grant program, along with other combinations of grants and loans from the State of West Virginia. The Thrasher Group is currently designing the project, with plans for the project to be bid and awarded to a contractor by the end of the year.

A public meeting will be held on Tuesday, April 16 to inform the public of additional project details. There will also be discussion of where rights-of-way agreements need signed, with the opportunity to do so during the meeting.

The meeting will be held at 6 p.m. at Farmington Town Hall, 1314 Mill St. All residents in the project area are highly encouraged to attend to ensure the project can proceed.

Those with questions or concerns regarding the project, or those needing to sign a right-of-way agreement but unable to attend the public meeting, may contact Mayor Bill Glasscock at 304-825-6442 or farmingtontown@frontier.com or the Right-of-Way Agent, Susan Belton, at 304-290-7925.
