PSP: Three suspects plotted wallet theft at T.J. Maxx containing $1.5K

HAZLE TWP., LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — State police are investigating a theft at T.J. Maxx that was allegedly plotted by three people to steal a woman’s wallet.

According to Pennsylvania State Police, on February 23 around 2:30 p.m., troopers responded to a purse theft at T.J. Maxx in Hazle Township.

Through further investigation, police said three suspects entered the store, stalked, and distracted a 53-year-old woman to steal her wallet. Inside the wallet was $1,500 and multiple cards including a social security card.

The suspects then fled the scene and used the credit cards, and cash at multiple businesses to purchase gift cards.

State police continue to investigate the incident.
