PS5 deals: Where to buy Sony’s next generation console in the US
Sony’s latest gaming console, the PlayStation 5, has launched today.
It is available in Japan, the US, and other territories for gamers who did not previously pre-order the gaming machine.
The PS5 comes in two varieties: one with a disc drive, and one without.
The digital, disc-less version of the PS5 costs £360 (€400, $400, AU$599), while the console including a disc drive costs £450 (€500, $500, AU$750).
For other territories, including Europe, the PS5 will not be arriving for another week - launching on 19 November.
However, many gamers have struggled to purchase the new console due to brief sales and general unavailablity because of logistical reasons.
Walmart said that it would be making consoles available throughout the day. It will be releasing them at midday, 3pm, 6pm and 9pm eastern time on its website. Its next window is at 12pm ET.
Target’s website appears to be stocking the next-generation console, but is routinely and rapidly out of stock. Best Buy also sold out. Gamespot’s website appears to be completely down on launch day.
Shoppers at Costco may be able to purchase a PS5 alongside the new Spider-Man game, but that is reliant on a membership to the store.
StockX also has some PS5s available for auction, although gamers might end up paying more than the asking price in exchange for getting the next-gen console today.
Although few people are able to purchase the PlayStation 5, gamers can purchase or pre-order the games that will be on it.
Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales, Demon’s Souls, and Watch Dogs: Legion are among the much-hyped new titles.
The PS5 itself is also a marked improvement over its predecessor. It vastly boosts performance, fixes some outstanding issues, and throws in some fun if gimmicky new extras.
It will be contending against the Xbox Series X and Xbox Series X, which have a less noticable design, fewer exclusives, and a similar controller to the Xbox One X.
