Provincetown election results: Voters weighed in on Select Board race, money requests

Provincetown voters returned incumbent Leslie Sandberg to the Select Board in Tuesday's annual town election. Incumbent Ngina Lythcott and Terese Nelson were chosen for seats on the School Committee.

According to unofficial election results, Sandberg garnered 736 votes and Jere Miller received 122 votes in the Select Board race.

Two seats were available on the School Committee. Nelson received 524 votes, Lythcott garnered 493 votes and Sean Ganas received 410 votes, according to unofficial election results.

There were no other contested races. In other unofficial election results, Mary-Jo Avellar was elected as moderator, Julia Perry was chosen for a term on the Charter Compliance Commission and Donna Szeker was elected to a five-year term on the Housing Authority.

Two override ballot questions were approved by voters.

Question 1, an operational override question, asked voters if the town shall "be allowed to assess an additional $373,342 in real estate and personal property taxes to fund the Provincetown School Early Learning Center for the next fiscal year.

According to unofficial election results, 638 voters voted "Yes," 261 voted "No" and there were 25 blanks.

Question 2 asked voters if they wanted to exempt from the provisions of Proposition 2 1/2 an approximately $11.8 million bond to fund the construction and site development costs of the Motta Field Master Plan Redevelopment.

According to unofficial election results, 570 voters voted "Yes," 332 voted "No" and there were 21 blanks.

According to the town, the Motta Field Master Plan Redevelopment "includes a 400-meter track, regulation soccer and little league fields, a skate park, shuffleboard and bocce courts, pickleball and tennis courts."
