Providence man who sold drugs in Worcester sentenced to federal prison

WORCESTER — A Providence man was sentenced Wednesday to six years in prison for selling oxycodone pills in the Worcester area.

Brandon Jones, 35, was sentenced by U.S. District Court Judge Margaret R. Guzman after he pleaded guilty in Oct. 2023 to one count of possession with intent to distribute oxycodone and two counts of distribution of oxycodone, according to a news release from the office of Acting U.S. Attorney Joshua S. Levy.

Guzman sentenced him to six years in prison, followed by three years of supervised release.

Jones was identified as an oxycodone distributor in the Worcester area around July 2022, according to Levy's office. He was accused of traveling to Worcester in rental vehicles on a daily basis to sell drugs before returning to Providence.

Jones met with undercover law enforcement to distribute oxycodone pills on at least four occasions between Oct. and Jan. 2023. The rental cars were tracked to Jones' supply source in New Jersey and New York in Feb. 2023.

Jones was arrested in March 2023. According to Levy's office, Jones was in possession of approximately 1,500 oxycodone pills at the time of his arrest.
