CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (WCIA) — This week will see a meeting between activists and Representative Nikki Budzinski (D-IL) to call for a permanent ceasefire in the war in Israel.

On Wednesday, a group of seven people from a Champaign-based interfaith coalition will meet in person for the first time with Rep. Budzinski. This meeting includes seven members from the Muslim Action Committee and Jews for Ceasefire. They will meet at Budzinski’s Champaign office.

“What we’re seeing is catastrophic. It’s not something to be taken lightly and it’s not something that can be waved away. And we want our representative, who claims to understand that, to really show it in her actions,” said Sana Saboowal, a member of the CU Muslim Action Committee.

The group is also coordinating a protest outside Budzinski’s offices in Springfield, Decatur, Bellevue, and Champaign on Wednesday.
