William, Prince of Wales

Prince William is set to return to his royal duties for the first time since his wife, Kate Middleton, publicly revealed her cancer diagnosis.

William, 41, took a step back from his role while he and Kate's three children–Prince George, 10, Princess Charlotte, 8, and Prince Louis, 5–were home from school on spring break. He's also reportedly been helping Kate, 42, as she continues treatment.

With the children's term starting up again on Wednesday, April 17, the prince is scheduled to return to work–just as sources said he would around the same time Kate announced her health battle, telling People that William would go back to his royal duties "in a balanced, measured way, tempered by the needs of Kate and his family."

On Thursday, April 18, William will speak about the work of community and environmental organizations in southwest London and Surrey, his office at Kensington Palace confirmed to the outlet. He's planned to begin in Sunbury-on-Thames to see how a food distribution charity called Surplus to Supper delivers, sorts and re-packages unused food to community groups.

The prince is then scheduled to visit a youth center in West London, which receives regular deliveries of surplus food and distributes it to those in need.

William's upcoming visits coincide with King Charles' recent moves to promote green initiatives with a sprawling solar panel installation on his Sandringham Estate, which he said is part of "the Estate's ongoing commitment to sustainability and promoting environmental practices."

The planned visits also come about a month after his wife bravely shut down conspiracy theories and spoke publicly about her diagnosis and treatment plan.
