Prince Philip and Princess Danica welcome first child less than 5 months after lavish royal wedding
Prince Philip of Serbia and Princess Danica have welcomed their first child together. Crown Prince Alexander proudly announced the arrival of his grandson Stefan in a statement. The little Prince was born on Sunday, February 25, at 10:30 am. “The mother and the baby are doing well. The new parents Prince Philip and Princess Danica warmly thank everyone for their congratulations,” the statement read in part.
The palace noted that Stefan’s birth is the first one in the royal family to take place in Serbia since Prince Tomislav was born in Belgrade in 1928. American-born Prince Philip, who is second in line to the Karadjordjevic throne after his brother Hereditary Prince Peter, married Danica Marinkovic in a spectacular wedding on October 7. The couple said "I do" at the Cathedral Church of St. Michael the Archangel in front of a host of European royals, before celebrating at the White Palace in Belgrade, Serbia.

Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden served as "godmother" to Danica at the ceremony. Queen Sofia of Spain was another notable royal in the crowd, as was the groom's younger fraternal twin brother Prince Alexander, and their parents Crown Prince Alexander of Yugoslavia and Princess Maria.

Danica — also known as Dana Maar — hid her growing baby bump on her wedding day wearing a full-length silk gown by designer Roksanda Ilincic that featured a large sash at the waist. After the ceremony, the newlyweds were showered with rose petals as they left the cathedral and chauffeured back to the White Palace for their lavish reception.

During dinner, the groom gave a heartfelt speech, telling his guests: “Danica and I thank you all for being with us on the most beautiful day of our lives so far. We are so happy to share the joy of this moment with you. We thank our parents for organizing this magnificent celebration for us here at the White Palace. And above all, thank you, Dana, for all your love and making for making me the happiest man in the world.”
