Prince Harry and Meghan Markle rent Cotswold home
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, are understood to have just signed a two-year lease on a home in the Cotswolds.
Back in January, rumours were swirling that the couple had their hearts set on a picturesque cottage in the village of Great Tew, near Chipping Norton in Oxfordshire.
Well now the newlyweds – who married in St George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle on 19 May – have apparently taken the leap and committed to residing in a property on the Great Tew Estate, which will act as a country retreat, according to reports.
The property is located on the same 4,000-acre grounds as the famous Soho Farmhouse, as well as David and Victoria Beckham’s country home.
The website of the Great Tew Estate reads: 'The Great Tew Estate encapsulates much of what might be considered the archetypal English Country Estate. Spring lambs playing in rolling grassland, oak woods with a carpet of bluebells, chocolate box thatch cottages... the Great Tew Estate is all this and much more.'
The royal couple's home and main base will continue to be the modest two-bedroom Nottingham Cottage at Kensington Palace, although it has been strongly rumoured that Harry and Meghan will move into Apartment 1, which boasts 21 bedrooms and is also within the grounds of the Palace, once extensive renovation has taken place.
Before their wedding last month, it was also widely speculated that the Queen will eventually gift the newlyweds a house as a wedding present, as she did for the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.
Kensington Palace has yet to comment on the rumoured move.
