Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan's Wedding Reception Venue Will Open to the Public for Three Days in May

It’s been nearly a year since Meghan Markle and Prince Harry's iconic nuptials at St. George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle. Following their wedding and a formal lunchtime soirée hosted by Queen Elizabeth II, the newlyweds famously drove off in a sleek blue Jaguar to their wedding reception, held just half a mile away at Frogmore House. For just three days next month, royal enthusiasts can step inside the very place where the Duke and Duchess of Sussex celebrated their union alongside famous pals including George and Amal Clooney, Elton John, Idris Elba, Serena Williams, and more.

The Georgian-style royal residency, a Grade I–listed building, is usually closed to the public, but will be open to visitors on May 28, 29, and 30, with a nominal $10 entrance fee that will help raise money for a different charity each day—the National Garden Scheme, the British Heart Foundation, and the National Rheumatoid Arthritis Society (tickets can be purchased through the organizations’ websites). Those who can’t make it across the pond in May will also have the opportunity to book tours of the historic residence for groups of 15 or more on certain days in August. Groups will learn more about the house’s history, including its past residents, as well as sip a glass of champagne in the Colonnade Room, overlooking the lake and garden.

Frogmore House was purchased in 1792 by George III’s wife, Queen Charlotte, and is located on the same grounds as Harry and Meghan's new house, Frogmore Cottage. The couple, who are expecting their first child together shortly, reportedly moved in to the property recently, after some delays in the extensive renovations to the home.

The cottage was a gift to the couple from Harry’s grandmother the Queen, and the updates to the abode reportedly include a yoga studio, a modern kitchen personally designed by the Duchess herself, soundproof walls to block out the noise of planes flying into and out of Heathrow Airport, and an additional guest wing.

The royal pair also, importantly, added a nursery, where their first child will sleep. The couple previously lived in a rented farmhouse in the Cotswolds.
