“This photograph captures a very happy moment on what was a special day for The Duke and Duchess and their family,” a spokesman for Kensington Palace says. “They are very pleased to share this picture as they celebrate Prince George’s second birthday.”

In the pic, an outtake from his little sister Princess Charlotte’s baptism earlier this month. Prince William struggles to hold on to his wily toddler, who leans forward and flashes a huge smile to the camera. Not in the new pic: His mother, Kate, or Princess Charlotte.

“He’s a little bit of a rascal, I’ll put it that way,” William has told CNN. “He either reminds me of my brother or me when I was younger, I’m not sure, but he’s doing very well at the moment.”

“He’s growing quite quickly actually. But he’s a little fighter – he wriggles around quite a lot and he doesn’t want to go to sleep that much,” he added.

The photo, taken in the gardens at Sandringham House, was snapped by famed fashion photographer Mario Testino.

Testino has been a longtime photographer to the royals. He snapped Will and Kate’s official engagement photos in 2011 and Princess Diana’s infamous Vanity Fair spread before her death at age 36. Prince Charles, Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, and Prince Harry have also posed for him.
