Prank attempt leads to kids being held at gunpoint in Garden City, police say

GARDEN CITY, Kan. (KSNW) — Police say four teens tried to pull a prank on a business in Garden City and became victims.

On Sunday, police went to the 900 block of Herald Avenue for a possible aggravated assault. Officers investigated and found out four teenagers had tried to pull a prank on a business employee.

The Garden City Police Department alleges that the employee and two other employees confronted the teens with guns, took them into the business and held them at gunpoint.

Police also allege that the workers, all in their 20s, took some of the teens’ personal belongings and made several threats before letting them go.

Officers arrested two of the employees on Monday and another employee on Tuesday. The workers were booked on suspicion of aggravated kidnapping, aggravated assault, aggravated robbery, criminal threat, and aggravated battery. One of them is also being held on suspicion of aggravated intimidation of a witness or victim.

GCPD is also investigating the prank that sparked the alleged crimes.

Police say there were no injuries.
