UPDATE: Power restored on Dauphin Island

UPDATE (4:35 p.m.): A sailboat that hit a powerline today has been freed, News 5 has learned.

In addition, power on Dauphin Island has been restored, according to Mayor Jeff Collier.

DAUPHIN ISLAND, Ala. (WKRG) — A sailboat hit a powerline today, leading to widespread power outages on Dauphin Island, News 5 has learned.

Mobile City Council fires Police Chief Paul Prine

The incident occurred near the south end of the Dauphin Island Bridge, according to sources.

Dauphin Island Mayor Jeff Collier said it happened around 2 p.m.

Crews have since been working to free the vessel and restore power to Dauphin Island.

Semmes Police seek 2 men for questioning after 5-year-old shot Sunday
