Power outages reported in Madison and North Huntsville

UPDATE: As of 8:30 p.m., Huntsville Utilities says 2,297 customers remain without power. The company said all available electric operations crews are in the field continuing work to restore power across Madison County. Huntsville Utilities said there are 13 downed power poles along with downed trees around its coverage area.

UPDATE: As of 6:35 a.m., outages are still widespread and there are at least 11 utility poles down, and another three significantly damaged. While crews are still dealing with the weather system, Huntsville Utilities says that daylight will make the restoration easier.

At this time, there are 6,462 customers without power.

UPDATE: As of 5:22 a.m., power has been restored to some of the original outage areas. However, new outages have occurred as a new storm system moves through. Crews with Huntsville Utilities are still in the field working to restore service, but the storm is hindering their progress.

At this time, there are just over 6,800 customers without power.

UPDATE: As of 3:36 a.m., service has been restored to customers in Northeast Huntsville from Toll Gate Road south to Drake Avenue and from California Street east to Monte Sano Boulevard. Crews are still in the area working.

At this time, there are 3,415 customers without power.

UPDATE: As of 1:55 a.m., service has been restored to customers in the North Huntsville area from Winchester Road south to Mastin Lake Road and from Highway 53 east to Memorial Parkway. Crews are still in the area working

At this time there are 4,802 customers without power.

UPDATE: As of 12:46 a.m., service has been restored to customers in the City of Madison from University Drive south to Eastview Drive and from Hughes Road east to Research Park Boulevard, as well as to customers in North Huntsville from Bob Wade Lane south to Sparkman Drive and from Jeff Road east to Pulaski Pike.

UPDATE: As of 12:35 a.m., service has been restored to customers in the Meridianville area from Steiger Road south to Bob Wade Lane and from Mount Lebanon Road east to Moores Mill Road. The outage was caused by a large tree that fell across all three phases.

Crews continue to respond to outages across the service area following a strong storm that moved through the area. At this time, there are 9,532 customers without power.

If you see a downed power line, do not approach it or attempt to drive over it. Report downed lines immediately to 256-53-LIGHT (256-535-4448).
