Power outages reported across Schuyler, Chemung counties

SOUTHERN TIER, N.Y. (WETM) — Hundreds of NYSEG customers in Schuyler and Chemung counties lost power during Saturday evening’s storms.

According to NYSEG’s outage list, 89 customers in Chemung County and 392 customers in Schuyler County were without power as of about 6 p.m. on May 25. NYSEG has assigned crews to investigate most of the outages.

The outage impacting the most customers (259) is in the Village Montour Falls, the Town of Dix, and the Town of Montour. NYSEG estimated that power would be back in this area and for the 36 customers in the Town of Reading at 6 p.m.

NYSEG estimates that power will be back in Horseheads at about 7 p.m., at about 7:30 p.m. in Big Flats, and about 7:45 p.m. in Van Etten. NYSEG customers in the Town of Orange should have their power back at about 6:30 p.m., and power is expected to be back in Hector and Catherine at about 7 p.m.
