Most cases of damage are described in the Northland area, specifically in cities like Smithville and Parkville. FOX4 received reports shortly after the storm of fallen trees and power outages near Houston Lake and behind Park Hill South High School.

Damage surveys from the National Weather Service in Kansas City have confirmed that an EF-1 tornado touched down near Smithville Lake around 10:10 Tuesday morning with peak winds of 95 miles per hour.

The Clay County Sheriff’s Office also updated reporters and described an overturned camper at the Camp Branch Campground, roofs torn off buildings, downed power lines and fallen trees covering roadways.

However, as more updates roll in, the damages are noticeably more widespread. FOX4 has received reports of potential downed powerlines in Overland Park and Lenexa, Kansas, as well as areas east of the Country Club Plaza near 47th Street.
