Portland International Airport expecting increase in 2024 spring break travel

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) – Ahead of spring break, Portland International Airport says they anticipate an increase in the number of people traveling through the airport compared to 2023.

Between Friday, March 22, and Sunday, April 7, PDX expects over 800,000 passengers to travel through the airport, an increase of nearly 7% compared to spring break of 2023, according to Port of Portland.

The airport says peak travel days over spring break will be Thursday, March 28 and Friday, March 29, followed by Thursday, April 4 and Friday, April 5.

PDX anticipates upwards of 50,000 travelers passing through the airport each day.

With more passengers at PDX, officials remind travelers to leave extra time for parking, check-in, and security checkpoints.

During spring break, PDX recommends arriving two hours early for domestic flights and two and a half hours early for international flights.

Those with extra time before their fight can check out PDX’s family-friendly spots such as the PDX Play Area in Concourse E or the Kids Play Area in Concourse C.

Travelers can also catch a short film at the Hollywood Theatre in Concourse C, enjoy live music, or visit the Sensory Room in Concourse D.
