Yahoo Autos Porsche Gave the 911 Turbo S 607 HP
With supercar-shaming performance, the Porsche 911 Turbo S hardly needed any more horsepower, but that's exactly what it gets in the new 911 Turbo S Exclusive Series. Twenty-seven more horsepower to be exact, bringing the total to 607 hp from the regular Turbo S's 580 hp. That's not the only thing the Turbo S Exclusive Series gets, however.
As you can see, the Turbo S Exclusive Series gets some visual tweaks that might not be to everyone's tastes. Most obvious is the Golden Yellow Metallic paint seen here, but there's also carbon-fiber racing stripes, new centerlock wheels, and Porsche's Turbo Aerokit. You can have your Turbo S Exclusive Series in other colors, but it sounds like you'll still get Golden Yellow accents on the wheels and other places.
Inside, you get even more Golden Yellow accents throughout. Porsche has even weaved bits of copper into the carbon fiber trim to reflect the exterior color. Naturally, Porsche will throw in a few badges and plaques to show that this car is a limited-edition special.
Interestingly, the 911 Turbo S Exclusive Series comes with a Porsche Design watch that'll be customized to match your car's appearance. A fitted luggage set is also available, but it costs $6234.
Which brings us to the total cost: $257,500, which is $66,700 more expensive than a regular Turbo S. That's a lot of money for a small power upgrade and some unique styling bits.
Porsche says this car debuts its new "Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur" brand, that will offer hand-done customizations of its various models. That's probably where the $67,000 premium over a Turbo S comes from.
While you might (justifiably) question the Turbo S Exclusive Series' looks, you can't argue with its performance. Porsche says the extra power helps it run to 60 mph in 2.8 seconds and to 124 mph in 9.6 seconds. We recently tested a standard, 580-hp Turbo S as running 0-60 mph in 2.5 seconds, so this upgraded version should be absurdly quick.
