Popular Dog Food Brand Recalled Over Concerns Of Metal Pieces

Attention Walmart shoppers, if you purchased Pedigree dog food at one of 176 Walmarts across Arkansas, Oklahoma, Louisiana and Texas, you need to check some important information on your bag.

The dog food is being recalled for possible loose metal pieces.

The FDA says, Mars Petcare US is voluntarily recalling 315 bags of PEDIGREE® Adult Complete Nutrition Grilled Steak & Vegetable Flavor Dry Dog Food in the 44 lb. bag size only, due to the potential presence of loose metal pieces in the bag.

The affected products have a Best By Date of March 4, 2025 and Lot Code 410B2TXT02. This is a limited voluntary recall only affecting 315 bags of product that were sold by Walmart in Arkansas, Louisiana, Oklahoma and Texas.

There have been no reports of pet injury or illness regarding the potentially impacted product, thank goodness, and it's pretty alarming to consider that you could end up potentially feeding your dog a food with metal bits in it! If you believe you have purchased this product, please stop using it.

If you have purchased this brand and size of dog in one of the above states, here is additional information about what dog owners should do next.

The FDA also states that dog owners who purchased the food should contact Mars Petcare US consumer care to initiate a return or with any questions at 1-800-525-5273 from 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM Central Standard Time (CST) Monday through Friday and 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM (CST) Saturday and Sunday or visit https://www.pedigree.com/updateExternal Link Disclaimer.

If your pup has any health concerns, you should always consult with your veterinarian first. Your veterinarian probably carries dog food, and it's probably at an inflated price. It helps to shop around and check online retailers before buying.

Ensure the food meets your dog’s specific nutritional requirements based on their age, size, breed, and activity level.  A puppy has different nutritional needs than a senior dog.

You should look for a food with an ingredient list with high-quality protein sources as the primary ingredient. Avoid foods with excessive fillers, artificial preservatives, and by-products. Not only will this keep your dog healthier, it will also make their, um, leavings less nasty. If you catch my drift.
