Pool rates set by Mifflinburg Borough Council

May 23—MIFFLINBURG — Borough council members set 2024 rates for the Mifflinburg Community Pool during Tuesday night's public meeting.

The price is $6 for ages 6 to 59, $3 for ages 60 and up and $3 for lap swimming. Children ages 5 and under are free. The 65-year-old pool facility is set to open on June 1.

The community pool, which is located along North Fifth Street in the community park, was in jeopardy of not opening this year due to a lack of staff. The borough has been hiring, conducting interviews and setting up lifeguards to receive Water Safety Instructor certification.

The pool, which was built in 1959, is projected to operate this year at a $72,800 loss, a common occurrence in the pool's history. Revenue is projected at $44,000 while expenses are projected at $116,800, according to Borough Manager Margaret Metzger.
