POLICE: Woman dies in hospital after car crash on Loop 304 in Crockett

CROCKETT, Texas (KETK) — The Crockett Police Department said that a crash occurred on Loop 304 and North 6th Street on Wednesday that led to the death of a 43-year-old woman.

According to a release, a preliminary investigation indicates that a 2005 Jeep SUV was traveling east on Loop 304 and a 2014 Ford pickup was traveling south on North 6th Street at around 3:54 p.m. The police’s preliminary investigation showed that the Ford failed to yield the right of way to the Jeep at the intersection and hit the Jeep on its left side.

Crockett PD said the collision caused the Jeep to lose control and roll over, “ejecting both the driver and passenger.”

Officials said the passenger of the Jeep, a 43-year-old woman from Crockett was taken by EMS and air ambulance to a hospital where she was later pronounced dead. The driver reportedly had minor injuries but refused to be taken to the hospital.

The driver of the Ford, a woman from Crockett, reportedly refused care at the scene.
