Police: Suspect arrested after shooting into Ahoskie home; teen, 20-year-old had stolen guns

AHOSKIE, N.C. (WAVY) — A 20-year-old with a modified gun shot into an occupied home earlier this week in Ahoskie, police say.

No one was hurt, but police have arrested the 20-year-old, as well as a 16-year-old and another 20-year-old who police say were found with stolen guns.

Ahoskie Police Chief Michele Garrett says officers were originally called for a shots fired report in the area of Ahoskie Christian School, and determined the shooting took place in the 800 block of Odom Street.

Garrett says two suspects, 20-year-old Qualik Avery and a 16-year-old, were arrested at the scene on charges related to the possession of stolen guns.

Further investigation from the Down East Drug and Violent Crime Task Force and Bertie County deputies led to the suspect who police believe shot up the home, 20-year-old Dre’Quan Robinson.

He was charged with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill, shooting into an occupied dwelling and possession of a weapon of mass destruction. Garrett says Robinson faces that charge after he was found with a modified rifle.

The investigation in the shooting is ongoing and no other information has been released.
