Police seek suspect in fatal shooting of 21-year-old man in East El Paso

Police are searching for a suspect in the fatal shooting of a 21-year-old man in East El Paso, authorities said.

El Paso Police Department officers responded to reports of a shooting about 7:15 p.m. Tuesday, May 14, in the parking lot of the Vista Village Apartment located at 10535 Montwood Drive near Yarbrough Drive, police officials said.

Officers found Bryan Castillo, 21, with gunshot wounds. Castillo was taken to a hospital, where he later died due to his injuries, officials said.

An investigation revealed that the man, who was with another man, a woman and a child, had argued with another group. The argument led to shots being fired.

No suspects have been arrested. No further information has been released as police continue to investigate the shooting.

"The El Paso Police Department's Crimes Against Persons unit is actively investigating the circumstances surrounding the shooting," police said in a news release. "Authorities are urging anyone with information about this incident to come forward to assist in the ongoing investigation."

This is the eighth reported murder of 2024 compared to seven last year.
