Police: Pedestrian cited after stepping on road, getting hit by Deming police vehicle

DEMING, N.M. (KRQE) – A pedestrian was hit by a Deming Police Officer in a marked unit Monday night, the Deming Police announced on Tuesday. The crash happened on West Pine Street around 9 p.m.

Police said the male individual stepped into the road and was hit. The officer in the vehicle provided aid and the male was taken by ambulance to Mimbres Memorial Hospital for minor injuries.

He was released from the hospital and has been cited by New Mexico State Police, which was the investigating agency. State police determined that the Deming officer was not at fault.

Deming police said no law enforcement action was taken against the officer.
